If you take things that chelate mercury while you still have amalgams, it pulls mercury out of the teeth and more can end up in the brain (mercury's favorite place to reside).  You up your chances of getting an autoimmune disease.  With mercury fillings, it is a catch 22;  Much like autoimmune diseases, the healthier you are, the more able your body is to attack itself.
