Nature is best - but naturally derived supplements are often more practical by Tony Isaacs ..... Ask Tony Isaacs: Featuring Luella May

The things found in their natural state are almost always superior to other forms. The problem sometimes comes from finding the organic forms on a consistent basis, and determining how much to eat to get a therapeutic amount. It is virtually impossible to get all the nutrients we need from diet alone. Even if we were able to do so, in the case of the nutrients I take, I would likely have to be about the size of the Queen Mary to eat that much. And then there would be the problem of making sure that getting enough of the various nutrients did not result in getting too much of other compounds found in the natural sources.
I take well over 150 different vitamins, minerals and other compounds in supplement form on a more or less daily basis - not nearly as many as that might seem when you consider that one product provides 75 plant derived trace minerals and the number of nutrients and compounds found in some of the other combinations supplements I take such as a multi-vitamin, OxyGen, Insulin Support, Cell Forte Max3, etc. And then there are the various single (or perhaps double) item supplements such as calcium, magnesium, selenium, alpha lipoic acid, selenium, milk thistle, CoQ10, vitamin D, B-12, folic acid, melatonin, colloidal silver and sometimes gold, and of course oleander extract. (If you notice anything conspicuously missing, such as zinc or potassium or iodine, it is in the mix, trust me!)
There is no way that I could get all those from diet alone, although with a very meticulously planned diet I could get quite a few, even from the food that comes from our depleted soils today. I don't always follow a meticulous diet plan, just a generally healthy one, and so my supplements are a good insurance policy that I am getting the nutrients and amounts I feel are vital on a daily basis. And the ones I cannot get from diet alone even if I tried.
Some things are not a good idea to take in their natural form. Oleander is a perfect example. Boil and strain it properly according to the instructions (or purchase it in supplement form or in the patented medicine form, Anvirzel) and you have something that can work wonders. Munch a few raw leaves and you may end up pushing daisies - it is highly toxic in raw form, don't even think about taking it that way!
You know, I have thought more than once how ironic it is that I have often quoted Jon Barron to the effect that the average male in the United States takes a combination of 15 over the counter and prescribed medications daily by the time he reaches the age of 65 (and it all began with one or two conditions that could have been treated naturally). And yet here I am taking about the same number, if not a bit more, of supplements and am a decade younger!
But I take items from nature to prevent illness and provide overall health - not artificial items from labs that treat symptoms and manage illness. And, except for a couple of visits to a doctor the first time I was bitten by a brown recluse spider, I have not been to a doctor's office in decades. How many of those who take 15 daily mainstream medications do you think can say the same?
Tony
PS - I will add that many of the items I take are from Utopia Silver, a CureZone supporter whose owner is a health freedom advocate and a lifelong friend of mine. Yes, I make a dollar or two (literally!) when people follow my link to Utopia Silver - but not nearly as much as the discount I have gotten Utopia Silver to agree to provide for my forum friends when they put in the promotional code LR001 on their orders and get an automatic 15% discount on any non-sale item.)
