Hi Maya,

I can recommend getting pets tattooed.
It really is not painful at all for a
dog. I held my dobie on my lap, on her
back, and she was already grown. We
tattooed on her belly since if they
are tattooed on their ears, the folks
who steal pets to sell to research labs
will cut off their ears. She was not
even uncomfortable at all and since all
dobies basically look alike, I felt
better if she got lost, a vet could
be called and they would check the
national registry...
