It is definitely not a myth.  It does not wash away enzymes or aminos.  Read 'Your Body's Many Cries For Water'.  You should drink half your weight in ounces of water each day with 1/4 teaspoon of uniodized sea salt added for each quart.  This prevents ANY chance of water intoxication.  You should also give up caffeinated beverages.  Not only will this relieve many discomforts you may be experiencing, but you will also effortlessly loose weight if you need to.

There is a lot more to ir than that.  Read the book.
