Unless that storm talk was a metaphor, there was no storm here at the time the transformer popped. In fact it was a bright, near-cloudless, calm, warm sunny day all day. When the guy from power co showed up, he was looking around the hedges for bits of critter - like squirrel, to possibly account for the fault in the power line. Apparently that is a common reason why power lines fail. None was found. The only bits of anything found was the big hunk of industrial-grade fuse that had blown and fallen to the ground.
