Ok, now I understand.

It is called a 4 unit bridge.  I had not heard the term wide span.

Your bridge is either Metal alloys (Palladium) or

A nickel-chromium based alloy comprised of nickel, chromium, molybdenum, cobalt, silicon and boron to which tin and indium.

Let's hope he is correct, because more than 75% of the bridges placed are the latter.

If you have metal in your mouth, you can get a metal taste.

The metal on your bridge should not be showing so that you can see it.

So, what metals are in the porcelain, is there aluminum in it or Bis-Gma?  What is the brand name?  I would ask for an MSDS (materials safety data sheet).  He has to give you one.  That will make him really irritated, though, most likely.
