Never take nexium or prilosec (almost the same thing), because they don't allow you to absorb nutrients properly and you can literally starve yourself to death.  I had the same thing as you and for many years, but eventually I found out it was from mercury poisoning from my fillings, so I had to get them out.  The best thing you can take is enzymes and acidophilus and HCI.  I would not let that go, because irritation can lead to esophageal cancer if you don't get it stopped.  You should defintely want to know what is going on in there, even if you want to take natural things to cure it.  My cousin had heartburn for 5 years and he just went in to the dr and was told it is stage 4 esophageal cancer.  They gave him a 5% chance of living.
