Schweitzer should be admired for his dedication to others.  His opinion on Gerson is, to me, of no value, I am interested in data.  Schweitzer's opinion of Geson is outnumbered by the opinion of thousand of modern doctors and researchers.  To this day all the evidence on the Gerson method has shown no impact in terms of curing cancer. Other than the improved psychology of Gerson patients, there is little proven benefit - this only points to the importance of treating the emotional aspects as well as the physical.  There are better ways to address the psychology than putting coffee up a patient's butt or not having them bathe.  As to the Japanese work, that I know of  there is no reliable published data to consider, just rumors
