"good! I'm curious to know what the light was..."

the light bulb had to do with the "soda" reference in the prior post.

"They also mentioned in that article something about cadmium and aluminum from the pickling lime being contaminated/not pure, but maybe they're not talking about food grade"

The interesting part in the article was the reference to the "impurities" being precipitated out of solution by the calcium hydroxide. This is in line with many articles on how lime water... or calcium can and does chelate heavy metals from the body.

"The other thing I'm wondering about is do people have to take this drink indefinitely, or just initially on an alkalizing protocol?"

I suspect that is an individual call based upon individual health, dietary, and environmental factors.

If one has great health, great food and as clean an environment as is possible these days, perhaps one drink once in a while when the feeling hits would be all that is necessary...

"I have a friend on a cancer diet with heavy duty juicing, mostly veggies, mostly raw for over 3 years now, and she feels great, good digestion, no gas, etc., but she's still showing up with an acid PH."

this is most likely due to the quality of the food she is getting/juicing... have her test her food with a refactometer and report back.
