Condoms won't prevent the spread of HPV as it is found on the skin. You can also be born with the infection passed on from the mother.

Symptoms for women upon contracting the virus via sexual intercourse:

---pain during intercourse from inflamation (all viruses cause inflamation)

---bladder infections at onset of the virus and upon flare ups (stress can induce this)

---may lead to abnormal paps, cervical dysplasia/cancer, ovarian cancer, & other cancers (also men are at risk for several types of cancers HPV related mouth & throat, anal...)

The cervix protects the woman and laser and leep procedures to cut away the cells can limit future protection from the virus and another virus exposure can lead to the virus reaching deeper into the internal sex organs, leading to ovarian cancer. This is still a theory but certainly makes sense and should be of concern for all women!
