That is sad to hear.  You know, reading your post reminds me of how easy it is sometimes to give advice and how hard it is to actually walk in someone else's shoes.

Without walking in your shoes (which might mean that I haven't a clue about what I am talking about in your own personal situation), I would normally suggest taking a look at the suggestions links that I provided in the above post and give the opinion that often people find relief from loneliness by  joining groups with common interests, such as a reading group or a hobby group, or perhaps a social action group.

I would also add that Vitamin B12 has been associated with mood in many studies and again emphasize the positive mood enhancement usually seen in moderate exercise.

In general newcomers who are listeners first and contributors second are the ones who are most accepted into such groups - and I do not mean you, I am speaking from personal experience in joining new groups.  Yes, sometimes ol' DQ goes in with guns blazing to try to save the world, and instead mostly stirs up some ca-ca  when he would have had a much better chance by slowly warming the group to himself and his message.  Sometimes when I have done that, the ca-ca ends up smack on the head of yours truly!
