I had thought this is as well.

I have had chronic  thyroiditis for years.  It flares up very badly (episodes of pain and swelling) similtaneously with attacks/overgrowth of candida (in conjunction with tinea, vaginal thrush).

It seems to me that the candida makes the thyroid issues worsen for some reason, but yes, who knows, chicken and egg question definately,
