people with Depression are not recommended to have mirena, as it can make it much much worse. conversely you may find that some of your other symptoms that you already have MAY clear up, however, other people who have had Depression first, have just got a hell of a lot worse. you wont know till it's in, then it will be a bit late. I would also be cautious if you are asthmatic because one of the more rare side effects is breathlessness etc and i would think that would be the last thing you want to risk!! i had the mirena put in, and a polyp removed too. mirena was to stop me constantly bleeding due to a thickened uterus, but it was the worst mistake i could have made. i had no history of depression, bloating, Acne or anything else, except high cholesterol - i NOW know that people with high cholesterol are also not supposed to have mirena, presumably as it can thicken the blood and cause a blood clot. i didnt get the depression, but i got acne, left side body numbness and pain, migraines (never had one before), being the most serious. My advice would be that unless you REALLY need to try the mirena for medical reasons (not just birth control), then dont have it. If you do decide to try it, then get their agreement that they would be happy to take it out if you decide not to keep it at any future date. However, only you can make that choice. go to :-
