I wouldn't say that, not like that. Anything is possible, with determination and 'luck'. Besides, it also depends on how far you'd like to get. For example, you could be an 'amateur' microbiologist, much like a hobbyist, and you'd get to see all sorts of microorganisms that way also. There are many amateurs out there. But the leap from making interesting observations with a Microscope to becoming an expert and being able to discern things is large, in my opinion. Despite that, I'd say "Don't give it up. Follow your dreams."
