Chris, I've spoken to plenty of biologic dentists on email and there has been NO problem at all with them discussing replacing composites/amalgam with inlays...the ones I spoke to were re "cerec", which appears to be much improved from the older style porcelains and apparently saves much more healthy tooth structure. I have done a lot of reading about it and emailing of biologic dentists, who seem very secure in the use of it, both mechanically and biocompatibility wise.

One biologic dentist I chatted to who knew I was not going to be a patient of his, me being overseas (so he had nothing to gain) privately admitted to me that he found the use of composites in bigger cavities a concern becuase he said he did not like the idea of using so much plastic/petrochemicals. Though this is not avoidable with the bonding agent, at least it is LESS of it.

Perhaps it's all a money making scheme...? I dont know, but certainly I've spoken to a lot of bio dentists about it and haven't heard any real problems. The problems that are caused are by the dentists who are not trained or experienced enough in the placement of it.
