First set of questions.....
I believe the micro world is one of the best diognostic methods for determining desease. With that said, is it possible with a determined individual, to begin pursuing microbiology in her own home? I enjoy learning. As a homeschool mom, this awful predicament can propel our family into a lifetime 'major' in medical science. Primative, yes. But I also hope productive. As the 'general health practitioner' of my family, I'm willing to at least look into the possibility of buying a good microscope, good textbooks (with pictures!), a notebook and start looking at my own bodily specimens. We will always need to 'figure out' our ailments for the rest of our lives. It is not feasable to send out specimens on a regular basis.
Questions...
What is an average price for a good microscope?
What kind must I purchase to be able to see parasites and hopefully bacteria?
What is a good 'starter' microbiology book that lists, with pictures, microbiotic pathogens?
Resorces on the net?
Come Monday morning, I'm heading to the library to arm myself with the beginnings of knowledge!
TIA,
robin
