As far as going to a vet, yes it would be a good learning experience but not necessarily good for practicing a treatment protocol.

I can tell what I know on this. MDs have LESS than a semester in training in this area! As a general internist they will do a month rotation with an infectious disease specialist and/or GI doctor. Let's keep in mind that the mind-set is that "no parasites exists"; therefore, during their training very little focus will be on this subject. As for vets the mindset is very different with the belief that there is a problem and the focus for proper training is available.

As far as I know, the CDC doesn't go knocking on people's doors because this info is given by you when you see your doctor and you are "under their care". However, in light of how things are changing quickly in this country, who knows what they'll do! The CDC is aware that there is a problem, I think. When I was doing some research here's a tidbit of info. In 1976, a nationwide survey in the United States conducted by the Centers for Disease Control revealed that one in every six people selected at random, had one or more parasites. I'd have to say that the number has increased considerably since then! The World Health Organization categorizes parasites as among the six most harmful infectious diseases in humans. Even with the CDC & WHO with CLEAR info on their stats, one has to ask why aren't they doing something about it or what is their true agenda?!
