I think it is safe to assume that proven means mainstream and unproven means alternative.
That would be the wrong assumption. Proven means one that has the strength of scientific evidence to support it. Unproven would be one in which claims are made without any scientific evidence to support it.
You venture into a different subject regarding DSHEA approval, that was not science, it was policy and opinions. You make these mistakes often confusing topics and mistaking what is and isn't science. You also think that quotes are facts.
Though you are right about one thing, fraud is not confined to Mexican 'miracle cure' clinics, it is a systemic problem that raises the cost to all involved.
