Have you guys experienced where you start out doing what you think is right and God shows you something even greater? Here's a example of what really happened in my life.

I was going through a divorce around 2000 and it was Christmas Day. I had to go to my(ex's)house and give the kids presents early in the morning like Santa. I went there and gave the presents, and was politely told I had to leave soon after. I really felt used.

I also had to go to my brothers house later at about 2pm. So I decided to drive down the highway helping people who had broke down, get to their destinations for Christmas. I was going to be a "highway hero" I thought, and was going to do it for God.

I drove 40-50 miles and saw someone broke down on the highway and tried to exit and go back and help them. Only the exit I took didn't cross over the highway to go back. So I decided to just drive back on this road that paralleled the highway on the other side of the highway.

Within a mile or two I saw this lady hitchhiking and thought well I could help her by giving her a ride. So I picked her up. She told me she was a prostitute, and she offered her services to me so she could get money to buy food. I told her my mission, and said I'd just buy her some food. So we went to a gas station and got her some food.

After that she started talking about her life, and said she had abandoned her kids & relatives for her profession, and that the police were looking for her. (At first I thought "Great I'll probably get busted now") She then decided it was time for her to go home for Christmas to be with them and let them know she was still alive and ok.

I drove her to at least three different places looking for her sister, or her parents house, and each time it was wrong. I was going to give up and she wanted to try one more place. This time she was right. It was a little house on a dead end road.

But what a moment when I let her off. She said thanks for the ride, and I said it was God who sent me to help her. She got tears in her eyes, and I started to also. She stood there for a moment and we were both silent trying to keep our composure. Then we both said goodbye and she walked off. I waited to make sure it was the right place, and she knocked on the door and was greeted with a big hug and loud talking. I couldn't tell what was said, but then I drove off.

Afterwards I was overwhelmed by all of it. I had decided to go out and help people that were broke down on the road, and some how wound up at the exact time and place in a big city 30 miles from my town, helping someone I couldn't have found if I tried. I wanted to help people on the highway, and wound up helping a prostitute return home. What were the odds? It seemed like God had sent me to that exact spot to help one of his lost and forgotten sheep. That Christmas started out as my worst one and wound up being my best.

So have you guys experienced anything like this where you start out doing what you think is right and God shows you something greater?
