I can't see the video right now but already my feeling about it is a negative one. Although I have avoided MSG for years I'm getting really tired of hearing all the time that we should avoid even more things, like salads, what's up with that?? I surely can't afford to eat organic and my choices of foods are already very limited since I must avoid wheat, dairy and sugar (and in view of how bad artificial sweeteners are I don't always avoid this last one...). And, sometimes I'm just too tired to fix everything from scratch so I do use shortcuts even if I never go eat at fast food restaurants. I also did not succeed in getting through to my now grown children to stay away from those or to avoid MSG, like most young people they do not want to hear that "kind of stuff". I sort of understand why, it becomes annoying to hear that everything one likes is "bad for you".
What bothers me the most is all the contradictive info out there. I see here for the first time that glutamine should not be taken by hypoglycemics yet Dr. Atkin's recommended it for getting rid of sugar cravings and I bought a bottle of the powder. I guess lucky for me in all the time I've had it I've only taken it a few times because on impulse I've ordered more supplements than I could ever fit in any particular day and, anyway, I've grown more and more skeptical about the usefulness/need for so many things.
I guess I just feel the need to express some of my frustration. Along with all the fear being fostered about everything we put in our mouths, there is always a new "magic" supplement being "pushed" out there, so I feel that if I want to keep my sanity I just can't pay attention to it all. In conclusion, I understand that amino acids like glutamine which stimulate the brain are best taken in the morning and not later in the day as it would not be good to interfere with the body's natural rythm. I feel that if used properly and not abused, since it's is a naturally occurring amino acid its ingestion would be fine.
