Easy. With sufficient iodine, melanin produciton in skin is catalyzed, which is the body's natural sunblocker, thats what Dr. Abraham told me.

It is quite nearly impossible for me to sunburn, even when I'm boating, which gives 2X ths sun.

It's melanin catalysis - end of story, far as I'm concerned.
