I believe a good dentist is as necessary as knowing good obgyn, a good general practitioner, a good mechanic, and a good lawyer. Knowing that I have a good person who is also excellent in his field makes me feel comfortable because I know he can handle whatever comes up due to maladies or trauma of the mouth.

mine charges $80 for a cleaning and is willing to do a cash discount when I'm poor. He surrounds himself with a good staff who is nice to me and never makes me feel like I am just a walking dollar sign. They remember my name and what is going on in my life.

I've even had him say I had some "problem spots" that we could fill, but that he'd just keep an eye on instead. I trust his advice implicitly on what needs to be done. Now-- I'll have to ask him about flouride...but I truly believe that most everything he's done for me has been exactly what's needed to be done.

I OP off and on, anywhere between twice a day and twice a week. I have to go in for a cleaning and I'm looking forward to seeing the evidence of OPing.

But I just had to stick up for the good dentists.
