I've been studying progesterone since 1980 and probably spent several thousands of hours in libraries, in Pubmed, consulting with many practitioners, as well as years participating in user-groups on this subject.

I agree with Vulcanel about stabilizing your cycles for three months --BUT after that, if I were you, I would use low dose transdermal progesterone until you conceive and then intravaginal progesterone during pregnancy to prevent miscarriage.

A naturopath should be able to advise you on these. Also, some progressive MDs know about this subject.

Just because progesterone has been over-prescribed, doesn't mean it's not appropriate in many cases.

Ideally, it would be great to see if any "upstream" cause may have contributed to a hormonal imbalance. You could spend a year or two detoxing and preparing for a pregnancy.

But you may NEVER find an upstream cause.

There may be a congenital progesterone defect, there may be a resistant bacteria such as gardnerella scavenging progesterone from the ovaries, or numerous other scenarios.

If you want a baby, I wouldn't stand on the principle that hormone supplementation is wrong. That is way too sweeping a principle, IMO, and more importantly, has not been proved.

Please keep us posted.
