I wrote to Dr. Kennedy about the above post:
Dr,
I had no idea anyone could be so mis-informed. Those dentists really do a number on people. This is in reference to the calgary videos . This is a very interesting read. so interesting how dentists tell patients amalgam doesn't have the kind of mercury that will hurt you. i have heard that before, but had forgotten about it.
It is hard to understand why the dentist has chosen to deliberately deceive their patients until you actually attend dental school. There you will be hammered with this illogical drivel and if you repeated it accurately on the National Board exams and State Exams you will be licensed to practice this deception on the public. One might wonder why dental schools so deliberately deceive their students until you realize that all dental schools in this country are accredited by the American Dental Association who has spread a similar deceptive attitude for the last 148 years. There is the real culprit. The ADA argues that they owe no duty of care to the public however.
The poisonous nature of mercury is altered by it’s absorption rate. Liquid mercury has a very low absorption rate and thus the toxicity is lowered. On the other hand elemental mercury vapor is one of the most toxic forms of mercury and if inhaled will either produce all 7 of the hallmark diagnostic signs of Alzheimer’s disease or kill outright. There have been many cases of severe injury including death from elemental mercury vapor. I recall a security guard from Kerr stole scrap amalgam and began to smelt out the sliver in his basement with a frying pan and blow torch. He died and so did his wife and child as I recall. Others were injured and the house was so contaminated with mercury the city had to tear it down and put in in a hazardous waste land fill. So much for the “safe” kind of mercury.
Sincerely,
David Kennedy DDS
