I had hives 5 years ago and they lasted 2 years before they just magically disappeared. No one found the cause and I naively trusted the doctors and was just on anti-histamines for two years. I also took some very mild detox tea. Anyway, after 5 years of nothing, I started seeing hives sometime in April. Naturally I freaked out and went immediately to the store in my PJs and got some benadryll. I took that for a week and the hives seemed to subside and I backed off the benadryll (stupid stupid.) Next morning I had more and because I was getting sick over it, I went to the hospital. The doc there gave me a prescription for both prednisone and zyrtec. Prednisone worked like a charm until I came off of it. So I did another week of prednisone and then the hives went away for 3-4 weeks and then returned. I have since learned that Prednisone is probably the worst thing they could have done for me. Anyway, I've been dealing with them ever since and treating myself because the docs don't help. I don't have any allergies, so I've been doing mountains of research and concluded that my hives might be caused by Candida. I kind of self-diagnosed it, but my history combined with other symptoms all pointed to yeast overgrowth. Anyway, I'm treating myself with various things and I'm seeing some improvement, but like I said at night they all come back and I feel like I'm constantly starting at square one. So this information about PH is really helpful. How soon before bed should I take do you think?
Thanks for all the replies so far.
