You seem to think that everything you imagine is true. Don't know if you're aware of this, but in order for someone to take on the responsibility of a mortgage, they must be present at closing to sign on the dotted line. So no one was forced to take on any financial responsibilities that they were not comfortable with.

As far as the condo being too expensive for us to afford, this did not become an issue until after I had discovered his gambling that had been going on for THREE MONTHS behind my back. He did however say that he wanted to sell our condo which was very close to NYC and buy a HOUSE further away from NYC, his reasoning being that we would get more for our money and avoid the Association Fees that come along with a condo. I did not feel that it was the right time to sell for a number of reasons:

1 I wanted to live there for at least two years to avoid Capital Gain Tax
2 I was not ready to make another move with a newborn and a one year old
3 I was asked to sell my place just about six months prior, to move into this new place
4 After selling my place, since the new place was not ready, we were forced to live in a rental for which we signed a three month lease.
5 After the three month lease was up and the new place was still not ready, we were forced to stay in an extended stay motel for another two months.
6 All this moving was very hard on me being pregnant and having a child under a year.

So do you blame be for wanting to live in a residence for at least two years.

Furthermore, the minute I discovered his gambling, the place was cleaned up and put on the MARKET. Did his gambling stop then? NO NO NO NO. When there was an accepted offer on the place, did his gambling stop then? NO NO NO NO. When we closed on the sale of the condo, did his gambling stop then? NO NO NO NO.
When we were living in another short term rental apt. and looking for this HOUSE that he so desired, did his gambling stop then? NO NO NO NO. ANY MORE EXCUSES???
