As I mentioned there were a lot of fat dogs at this event. While I would never go up to a person and tell them "you have a fat dog", if they introduce themselves I have not problem with it.

So I did it, I explained the benefits of calorie reduction showcasing my 12 year old mutt that has the lean body and muscle tone of a dog 1/3 his age and the risk of obesity.  What was the response?  Anger and excuses.

'He likes to eat' they would say; as if the dog was out buying its own food and the making his own dinners.  Not a single person took responsibility for the condition of their pet and from their responses not one has plans to change their behavior for the sake of their dog. 

When we take charge of a dog, it is our responsibility to educate (train), and maintain the welfare of this animal.  This includes not feeding them to death.  Food is not love, all dogs appreciate our time far more than our food and tis time people learned this.
