Thanks for all of that good information. I've had TMD for 25 years, starting with a faulty appliance that caused my disc to slip and degeneration of the jaw joints from the misalignment. For all these years I kept my TMD stable by craniosacral massage. Then this past year I went to a neuromuscular dentist for my last mercury removal, who screwed me royally -- I've heard the term is "create the problem, offer the solution". I've actually been in offices of 3 neuromuscular dentists this past year, and it's no wonder they're trained in Las Vegas and all seem to have the same M.O. -- it only costs $20,000 to fix the problem they're happy to set up for you. Anyway, I have a whole new set of scary symptoms, including facial neuralgia, and I'm wondering about the TMJ appliances. When I had a number made years ago, they all tasted of plastic. Since I don't want to be sucking on plastic 8 hours a day, I'm wondering what the dental materials are like now for the overnight appliances. Do you know? Of course they're more than approved by the ADA and the FDA, but I know if I taste it then I ingest it. Any advice would be much appreciated...
