Spirit,

My opinion is almost identical to the one posted by Kathryn above this.

I do appreciate finding my name on the list of suggested moderators. That is an honor I didn't expect.

When I went to your survey of 'options', I didn't understand what were the 'options' you were referring to.

I assume you were asking for other CureZone posters to be added to the list, or that you want those on the list to say if they don't visit that forum.

But, if the latter is true, which forum? Isn't this survey published across all forums...or the most active ones?

I know that constructing surveys is a very difficult task, in order to get the most informative replies possible from the 'public'.

I would prefer to be asked what standards I think CureZone moderators could strive for.

I would vote for...

...Play nice. Courtesy first.

...Be supportive to others BEFORE dispensing opinions, especially negative, narrow-minded, or judgmental ones; though I have no idea how to get posters to monitor themselves.

...Take ownership of your opinion...'I believe'; 'I think'; 'It has been my experience'; and so on.

...Avoid alarming people...we seldom know ALL the circumstances of any story.

...Avoid being curt...it is such a put-down.

Personally, I just don't know enough about computering in general to be useful to CureZone, nor do have the time to learn.

Overall, I prefer to see the CureZone as a treasure-hunter's paradise. I look for the gems that make me say, "Aha!" And I use the 'Agree' and 'Alert good message' buttons ONLY when I feel a poster has contributed something we all can use to advantage.

I have used the 'Alert bad message' button once or twice when I have felt the poster was just plain rude.

I have tried to contribute to one or two 'debate' forums, but I don't seem to see much real debating going on. Mostly I see venting...in the few 'debate' forums I have visited.

Like Kathryn, I try to add something worthwhile wherever I can. Sometimes the only thing I can contribute is encouragement/attention. I feel that these help some people more than any tips I can manage.

Sometimes I wish for summaries...simple tick-lists of ways to be well in specific circmstances...and I notice how many concerns and general practices overlap.

I am not fond of carrying any 'big stick'. I prefer to cultivate 'goodwill' wherever I can.

My best,

Fledgling
