Iodine is acid forming

Toxicity can include metabolic acidosis

I would recommend clearing an acid condition prior to starting Iodine supplementation in high doses. Otherwise if taken from natural sources or whole foods it may be part of a plan as the whole foods contain other necessary co-factors and minerals to increase alkalinity deficient in Lugol's and iodoral.
