The ELO flush is a little different because their isn't much pre-conditioning. I agree that apples are a firm favourite because they are pleasant and inexpensive, although sometimes avoided if the high calories are a worry. I am not certain why apples are so highly recommended. Dr. William Kelley is the author of "One Answer to Cancer" 1967 mention the benefits of malic acid in his book but doesn't explain how this works. He states that: "Apple juice (high in malic acid) or ortho-phosphoric acid, which acts as a solvent in the bile to weaken adhesions between solid globules. This statement has just been copied throughout time but I haven't found an robust explanation. It may be pectin that is important because we know pectin can actually reduced blood cholesterol by about 17% and this must be eliminated through the liver. Its good that we don't know everything and have to rely on a good dose of faith; an essential ingredient.
