It has been over a month of healthy lips now, so I feel safe in offering this up as a potential cure. Back a few weeks ago, I asked if anyone noticed that eating Sugar or white flour products made it worse, and many said yes. On the theroy that very little happens on the surface without a deeper internal reason, I suspected my candida flares and compromised liver had eveything to do with my chelitis. I think I was right.

I had been having trouble getting my candida under control (I had it bad before, got lots better, fell off the wagon, and candida came back - tho I did not have the chelitis the first time). I also have liver issues and thus cannot take antifungals because they make me too toxic. On a whim, after hearing a lot of people who had terrible candida got relief from it, I tried eating cultured veggies and cultured saurkraut from Rejuvenative Foods. They are naturaly fermented (NO added ingredients whatsoever) and contain tons more probiotics than can be found in supplements. I started to get good results from this almost immediately. Then, I decided to try upping my pill-form probiotics and went from a brand that contains several million to one that contains several billion (Ultimate Flora), and took those in the morning and at night. I also decided to add in a lesser dose of pill-form probiotics between meals - really flood the system, ya know? And, since I cannot take most antifungals, I searched around for a good enzyme-based candida treatment because it is easier on the liver than prescips or herb-based treatments. I had been on Candex and usually that kept things from getting toooo out of hand, but did a search and found Candizyme, which is a more potent formula. In addition to the fact that my lips have been totally ok for over a month, my other candida symptoms have also taken a hefty nose-dive. It completely healed my thrush, for one thing, and I did not get a candida flare when I got my last menstrual period, which I had always gotten an annoying flare.

I don't think the cure lies in anything topical - there is something simmering underneath that needs to be dealt with.
