Liver Flushing has probably done you the world of good even though you are still suffering. It means that your quest for health hasn't yet been fulfilled completely, like so many of us it is difficult to find a cure.
The ileocecal valve is a sphincter or circular muscle which is found where the small intestine meets the large intestine. When this valve does not function properly it causes a host of gastrointestinal problems and mimics other conditions making it difficult to diagnose. It can simulate heart symptoms, right shoulder pain, constipation, diarrhoea, back pain, disc problems blood pressure problems, migraines and a host of others. It is called Ileocecal Valve Syndrome
To locate the valve area imagine a line between your navel and right hip bone, 3 inches below the middle of that line is the ileocecal valve. You may need to feel around to find the exact location. With all your fingers, press quite firmly and find the tender spot. This area will be tender in most folk.
It will be like finding a golf ball under a pillow - but some of us have more ‘pillow’ than others so keep probing to locate the spot. Sometimes it is easier to locate the tender spot while lying down. Once you've found it, massage it in a circular fashion as you would any cramped muscle.
Ideally, this massage should be done throughout the day before meals. As a minimum do it in bed a night and again in the morning. Your may hear gurgling, flatulence, burping - and sometimes a bowel movement will follow. All of these are evidence that this valve needs help. You'll find that the tenderness will subside after about a week or two of diligent application of this technique and you'll feel much better and be healthier for it.
What cause Ileocecal Valve Syndrome isn't clear but it is believed that the following may contribute:
Dehydration
Emotional upsets
How you eat (overeating, eating too frequently, eating too quickly, eating foods you are sensitive to, under-chewing your food)
Type of Foods (carbonated drinks, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, raw foods, hot spicy foods)
Treating Ileocecal Valve Syndrome can be achieved by self or professional massage, supplements and alternative diet. As a temporary diet for two to three weeks while applying self massage, avoid the following foods:
Roughage foods: popcorn, nuts, potato chips, pretzels, seeds, whole grains
Raw fruits and vegetables: celery, bell peppers, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes.
Spicy foods: chilli powder, hot peppers, salsas, black and cayenne pepper, paprika, cloves, cinnamon.
Also eliminate liquors, alcoholic drinks, cocoa, chocolate, caffeine products
Problems with an ileocecal valve can be linked to a hiatal problem. Pressure in the abdomen causes stress on the other organs, liver, stomach etc and causes hiatal syndrome, even a hiatal hernia. A way to tell if you have a hiatal problem is to place your fingers on the solar Plexus, just below the breastbone. Then take a deep breath. You should feel the solar plexus expand and move outward. If there is no movement at the solar plexus and you have to lift your chest and shoulders to take a deep breath, then you probably have a hiatal problem. You should be able to take a deep abdominal breath without lifting your shoulders.
