I forgot to mention the (weird!) thing that gave me the *best* results: a diaper rash creme called Boudreaux's Butt Paste, made with zinc oxide and boric acid (not sure which one of those was so effective, or if it was the combo of both). When I put a small dab of this on one of the pustules and repeat a couple times each day (on the zit like things that never would develop a head) on my back, neck, or face, they would quickly start to dry up.

However, this made a MESS of my hair when I tried it on my scalp...It seemed to be effective on the actual problem, but I have shoulder length hair (and I'm not all that vain--I don't care if it doesn't look perfect, you know?) and after 3 days of applying this paste to my scalp, even trying to be careful to keep it to the scalp and not get it on the hair, my hair looked really gross...like an oily/nasty/never-washed gross, where I was embarrassed to be seen with it. If this is actually mites, then I'd need to keep this paste on my scalp for at least three months...

Obviously, if it's the only thing I can find to work, then I'll just put a scarf or hat over it and figure it'll be worth it in the long run (and maybe cut my hair short-lol), but in the meantime, I'm going to try a few other avenues before I resort to being a grease head.
