Technically, I will concede the point. Our rights were written more into the Declaration of Independence ("We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. . . . " - Thomas Jefferson), and the Constitution itself actually gives rights to the people in reverse. That is to say, it assumes that people have all rights not specifically granted by the people to the government. One could in fact look at the Constitution as an anti-government document.

While the term "unalienable" itself may not be found in many federal and state constitutions and bills of rights, it is certainly implied and often words are used which are pretty much interchangeable - such as "inherent" and "inviolate".

What is clear is that this country and our states were founded on the principal of the power belonging to the people and being granted BY THE PEOPLE to the governments - and not the principal of governments and their agencies granting power to the people.

True, when laws are passed it is considered to be the people granting powers to the government. I do not think that the spirit, if not the letter, of the intent of the constitution and Bill of Rights is met when an agency such as the FDA endeavors to manipulate laws, change guidelines and promote treaties that attempt to take limit and take away our rights when such has not been demanded by the people who hold those rights until they are given away.
