I am not apologizing for the content of the message, just the fact that it is a lenghty one. Now, I could have just posted a summary or opening paragraph or two and a link to the article - but I have found that when that happens you lose a lot of readers who do not follow links.
The point of the article, which I did not write, is to make clear that there is a looming threat, to explain the nature of the threat and to point out ways in which we can respond.
You know, we are supposed to enjoy unalienable rights to life and liberty - it was written into our constitution by our founding fathers. The definition of "unalienable rights" is:
Something that cannot be sold, transferred or encumbered. I think that it is pretty clear that we should have the right to do whatever we wish with our own bodies so long as it does not endanger others. That includes consuming whatever natural supplements we wish and choosing whatever alternative forms of treatment we wish.
The FDA uses the guise of presuming to tell us what is best for us and to forbid manufacture of, or access to, anything they deem as unsafe - and the new threat is to expand their powers of making such judgments. That might be well and good except for the fact that the FDA serves and protects the interests of the world pharma trade - and that includes suppressing natural competition. In other words, their judgement is not based on the public good but is hugely biased towards the interests and profits of the pharmaceutical empire.
If we do not stay vigilant and speak up for our rights we will lose them. Once rights are lost, or taken away as the case may be, they are so very, very difficult to get back.
One way of helping keep our rights is to stay informed and to inform others. And thus my post - with it's apology for the necessary length.
Live long, live healthy, live happy!
