Hi Glenna,if I catch the attack early enough it will subside in 15 to 45 minutes,if you dont catch it right away-as soon as it starts it will take longer.Julia recomends taking it every night on the detox program with chinese bitters & GC grass.I found that if I take it all the time it is not as effective in an attack so I just take it now if I am having an attack.I had a severe attack-my worst and it subsided in half an hour and then got steadily better.Ive had them subside in 15 minutes if I catch it within the first few minutes.I dont know about taking anything else with it.I am really watching the food so as to not bring these attacks on.I want my system to heal and these attacks probably mean something in the lifestyle isnt right.Our body is telling us there is a problem.I am currently taking Dr. schultz intestinal formulas to clean my system and next week I will try his 5 day liver & gall bladder flush,his is much different than the lemon & olive oil and he claims it will disolve gall stones.good luck & I wish you well.JIm
