Hi Wommie,
I buy beets from the farmer's market here locally all year round! we
are exceptionally lucky here in the Santa Cruz area (as you know) to
get fresh produce all year round. I miss them terribly when I can't
get them, like when it's between planting cycles or something. Just
got some bee-YOO-tiful beets (along with the greens) this morning.
I steam them and eat them in salads--yum! and my lower bowel love
them too! Last summer I fasted for 16 days on carrot/beet/leafy
greens/cuke juice. It's the best cleanser I know of!
