You bet, Minx!
Don't sweat it!
We never know how things will feel, until they happen to us. And, we don't know how 'healing' will happen, when, or how it will feel along the way.
Your body knows all it needs to, in order to restore itself...but it doesn't tell. We are not born with 'windows'.
You've already set your goals, complete wellness, and, so far, your love of sports. Now let your body choose its own best way. Listen!
Do only what your body wants to do...for as long as it wants to do it.
Forget 'training' programs! Forget all that you learned long ago about 'training'.
You've got your finest personal trainer on the job...your body's 'mind', somewhere in the area of your navel.
Several times per day, smile at it, and let your 'thinking' mind, in your head, stop thinking. (It thinks it is in charge, but it ISN'T. It just comes up with the possibilities, and questions, worries.)
It's the 'body mind' that knows HOW!
Trust that. Smile. You'll make it!
At some time you may have to acknowledge your sadness at the accident...to let it go.
The really neat thing about that is that you don't have to go through the 'agony' of remembering, etc.
All you need to do is...
...a. Say, out loud, "I feel/felt hurt." (NOTHING about 'why' or 'how'.)
...b. Put your arms around yourself.
...c. Say, out loud, "There, there, little one. You'll be okay. I'll take care of you." (Maybe give yourself a little stroking, and patting, just as you would comfort a child.)
Your inner person doesn't care WHO does the comforting, or when...just that it gets DONE!
You'll see...this WORKS!
Then let your own personal trainer, inside, get on with the job.
Easy does it...baby steps.
You're going to be just fine.
Eventually, you will have something greater than all athletes, the knowledge of what it takes to repair and restore...and a fine story to tell your grandchildren!
With you,
Fledgling
Uh...drop the first word in your user-name, okay? Just in case.
