Spirituality means waking up... Being awake means to be aware of the truth...
And the truth is that we are spiritual beings having a human experience...
Most people... even though they are not aware of it... are asleep....
They're born asleep...
they live asleep...
they marry in their sleep...
they breed children in their sleep...
they die in their sleep without ever waking up....
They never understand the loveliness and the beauty of this thing that we call human existence....

You know... all mystics... Catholic... Christian... non-Christian... no matter what their theology... no matter what their religion... are unanimous on one thing:
that all is well...
all is well...
Though everything is a mess... all is well...
Strange paradox... to be sure... But... tragically... most people never get to see that all is well because they are asleep... They are having a nightmare....

Waking up is unpleasant... it's scary... you know... because you are nice and comfortable with your head up your ass... And It's very irritating to be woken up... The thing that frightens most of us is the thought of change... That is why most people resist... That is why it is near impossible to wake someone up that doesn't want to wake up... They are at home in their darkness... and if they do not wish to wake up and come to the light then it is none of my business... it is only up to me to do my thing... to dance my dance... I would wish that everyone could find what i have found...

There's an old saying that if you sit in the barber chair long enough you'll get your hair cut... meaning that if you hang around slippery people in slippery places you will inevitably slip... or another way of putting it... if you keep doing what you've been doing you will keep getting what you've been getting...

I had great difficulty staying sober when i first came into AA... it wasn't until i made a commitment to make 90 meetings in 90 days that i managed to get a string of days without so much as a smell of alcohol... in fact it worked so well that i managed to go a little over three and a half years without missing a meeting... and only missed it then because of a bad bout with the flu...

"AA" is a "WE" program... and "WE" can do what none of us are able to do on our own...
