Canning and freezing is great. My FIL does it. I'm not into the canning process but vacuum bagging veggies is great. I don't eat meat or hunt but he gets his deer and fish and has a good supply after the season is over. It's a lot better than the garbage meat that's at the grocery store. I save my receipts and make a pricebook out of them too so I can see when the 'real' sales are. I don't use coupons. Most foodstuffs for coupons are unhealthy and too processed. A good place to shop for cheap food is a farmer's market. Here where I live, folks sell farm fresh eggs, honey, corn,etc.
