"Don't be one of those who refuse (or are afraid) to dig deep into the Bible. Rest assured it can hold up well under the most intense scrutiny, as it has for millenia. If you think someone is twisting instead of exegeting, prove it. Show how their argument is not warranted by context. If you can't prove such a thing, then don't accuse them of engaging in "gymnastics".
The person who wrote this hides in a closeted world far away from the reality of the teachings of Jesus, yet claims to have all the answers for the "Christian" religion. That person twists and corrupts bible passages to make it mean something that isn't even vaguely in the bible. That person says to "dig deep into the Bible" because "Rest assured it can hold up well under the most intense scrutiny."
Here's Jesus' answer to that which I quote from Matthew 7:12 (KJV):
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
Now then, in Jesus day, the Law and the Prophets was the entire bible!!! I was far bigger than what Christians call the Old Testament (which wasn't codified by either Christians or Jews until centuries later) and the New Testament and all its errors, omissions, and false additions hadn't been written yet. Here Jesus said that the Golden Rule was equal to the entire bible.
So, why do they ("Christians") continue to profess the false doctrine of a literal interpretation of the bible? Jesus sure didn't do that. He simplified it and created a new doctrine!
