...and the reason I told you that 'sterility' of enema equipment isn't that major of a concern, is because that it was clearly obvious to me that you were already INCREDIBLY germ conscious, and there was no possibility that you were going to put anything 'unsanitary/sterile' into yourself. I was attempting to ensure that you would not be fearful of doing CE's initially because of germs. I apologize if I "misread" you and lead you astray.
So I mentioned that 'think of where we're putting this', it's NOT a sterile environment to begin with.
Of course, it's a direct portal to the liver and one wouldn't want to put poisons into the liver...BUT REMEMBER, the fecal matter in the sigmoid colon DOES ALSO come into contact with the liver portal network. And we all know how many germs/bacteria (and other critters) there are in fecal matter.
Proper cleansing on enemas equipment is important; a couple of drops of Iodine in a couple of quarts of hot water ran through the bag/bucket/tubing, and then everything dried properly, should ensure all the sterility one needs.
Btw, one of the reasons some people feel a slight nausea right before having a bowel movement, is exactly because of the the above. When the fecal matter comes into contact with the liver portal (and travesl toward the liver) sometimes it creates a feeling/sensation of nausea.
