Research is fine. I consider personal experiences very important, such as what people are sharing here. That's special. The available research you've read is just scratching the surface. We need to keep learning, sharing.

Personally, I think I've made it clear that I'm pretty conservative on dosage. I know that I'm deficient in iodine. My grandmother came from Switzerland where everyone was mineral deficient. My mother and most relatives definitely showed Iodine deficiency symptoms. I believe their lives would have been so much happier if they would have corrected it, but of course they didn't know. My mother's breast lumps were cured with Lugol's. It's too bad she didn't continue Iodine throughout her life. I've seen deficiency symptoms in my family -- ADD, FBD, Sjogren's, etc., etc.

But, I also think we are not deficient in a single nutrient, although Iodine seems to be at the top of the list.

Even though Brownstein found most of his patients to be deficient in Iodine, some were too sensitive to go with high doses. The reason I joined this forum, is to see what is happening with others. I feel I started too heavily and am trying to find the dose which is right for me. I was diagnosed with low thyroid as a young person and was given conventional treatment. I felt great but after a few months, I became knowledgeable and found that I would be on it for life, so I quit. I've had an energy deficit for a long time.

I think when we're deficient for a long time, our body needs to go slowly. I'm going from 4 drops to 3 drops tomorrow. I think it's much easier on the body and that some of the unpleasant symptoms we get are from putting too much of a load on our body by expecting to speed things up with high doses.

The Folk Medicine doctor recommended 2 drops three days per week. Of course, we know that there are many halides & other toxicities to combat since his writings. I've gotten rid of most the halides that I know of.

But we are very individual. If some are doing well on high doses, I'd love to hear it. But I'm sure there are some like myself that need to go more slowly.
