Molly, hope you're not getting mad at me for what I am going to say, but don't you think that a parenthood accepted but never really wanted could have initiated the Depression of your husband? this doesn't have anything to do with loving your child, I am sure your husband loves him but that is not making one love more the life of a parent. Well, I am sorry, maybe I am just projecting on him my own situation...
