Yes, Raynbo, I mispoke about the psychologists, they can help us understand more about our situation (although I never consulted one, I only have a natural casual interest in the mind). I was talking about the academic "spectator" approach common to both (very detached). Classrooms and books can't teach empathy. While there are some professionals who are truly willing to be understanding and sensitive to our plight by realizing the heartbreak and heartache that has made us depressed, there are too many that only go "by the book" and condescendingly rather throw drugs (not psychologists) at the situation and ignore people's humanity. The Yoga, etc. seems a bit far out for me (I prefer chess, any distraction/hobby is fine), maybe it's just that I don't have self-discipline.
So, while psychologist don't use drugs for the situation, they still have not been very helpful in preventing the common misperception that depressed people are "defective". For example, educators have realized for years that left-handed people tend to be extra creative, yet there still exists a stigma for being left-handed (much the same for depression,...social STIGMA, but also professional denigration).
I would like to think that, beginning with this generation, all of that will change, but that probably is very naive of me.
