Someone pointed out to me pretty early on that Lugol's is not patentable... :) and I do believe that that "someone" was you, HoW.
Iodoral IS Lugol's, in tablet form.
This debate will never end, I'm afeared. As long as we're all getting good results from our Iodine o' choice and we're happy with the reasons for our choice, it's all good, IMO. It's only natural to want others to validate our choice as well.
