Thanks so much for the post, I know that I've been struggling with the same issue. It's impossible and completely ridiculous to put our lives on hold just because we have this condition. What I'm now trying to find is a "management method" such as the one you've described. I have left my lips alone for about a month (while using glycerin as Neem suggested and another product) and I have seen some benefit in my lips, but they are not healed by any means. There is less of a peeling area now, but this peeling still continues about once every four days. One thing I think I should mention is my personal experience of a possible way to deal with this condition.

About a year ago, I traveled to Mexico for a week in order to go surfing. While I was there, I surfed for about three hours a day, and I noticed a complete reversal of my symptoms of EC. While in the water on the first day, I noticed that the skin on my top lip came off, and since then for the rest of the week my lips were absolutely maintenance free. I could eat, drink, and generally not worry about this condition. Several times throughout the day, I'd sneak away and check my lips with a pocket mirror and I found them to be not perfect, but not peeling at all. Recently, I think I found out why my lips didn't peel when I was there.

On Psoriasis websites, it is sometimes mentioned that sea water (more specifically the water from the Dead Sea) combined with being out in the sun has greatly decreased the symptoms of psoriasis. This is NOT a cure! I've read that the symptoms of Psoriasis have come back after coming back from a trip to the Dead Sea. There are a few theories as to why the sea water helps (increased magnesium in the water, etc.). What I'm planning on trying now is a Dead Sea Salt bath product from Ahava every other day and seeing if this has the same effect as the water in Mexico. If this product works, and that's a big if, I realize that... then all I'd need to do is soak my lips in a gallon of water mixed with about two tablespoons of bath salts for about 20 minutes every other day and take a shower after to wash off the salt. Have any of you who live near the ocean noticed that your lips benefit from swimming quite a bit? (I know you'd have to be brave to swim with this condition, but who knows?). Anyway, thanks for the info NeverEverEnds, I agree that it's time (for me at least) to stop looking for a cure and time to live a normal life again. I'll post after a few weeks to let you guys know if this Dead Sea Salt helps at all.
