What should a good blood clot look like 5 days after a tooth extraction? I had a lower taken out (number 31).

There's some whitish substance in the socket. But I don't think it's healing properly. I still can't eat anything solid...because scooping out food particles with a Q-tip is not pleasant.  Plus, it still hurts.

I don't want to have to go back to the dentist for yet another procedure (I can't afford it). The extraction site stings quite a bit.
