Thank you for sharing your experience. If it weren't for your note, I may have made the horrible mistake of weaning my son at only 3 months. Like you, I had the Mirena IUD inserted just 6 weeks after giving birth to my 2nd child. This was just 8 weeks ago . . . 8 very long weeks. I've had similar side effects - vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, constant bleeding, moodiness, and in addition, some problems with my breasts that are affecting my ability to nurse. When I talked to my doctor, she blamed breast feeding for the dryness and the breast problems. I nursed my daughter for 19 months with no similar problems.

Anyhow, I am having the Mirena removed on Tuesday. Thanks to you, I have some hope that these problems will go away soon.
